Scottish Expert Advisory Panel on the Collaborative Economy Report

Sharing Economy UK has responded to the findings and recommendations in the Scottish Expert Advisory Panel on the Collaborative Economy's report on how Scotland can best benefit from the collaborative economy.

Richard Laughton, Sharing Economy UK Chair and CEO of EasyCar, said:

“With a technology-savvy consumer base and a reputation for digital innovation, Scotland, and the UK as a whole, has an opportunity to be a hub for the sharing economy.

The Expert Advisory Panel has put forward a number of important recommendations, highlighting how start-up platforms can be supported by financiers and regulators to expand their reach. It also points to best practice in how platforms and local authorities can work together to find policy solutions to meet the specific needs of towns and cities.

Sharing Economy UK’s TrustSeal is the world’s first kitemark for the sector, awarded to businesses that demonstrate high standards on key issues such as transparent communications, identity verification and secure payments. We welcome the Panel’s recognition of the TrustSeal and will carefully explore its suggestions for its future development.”
