Sharing Economy UK welcomes withdrawal of Short Term Lets legislation from Scottish Parliament
Legislation for Licensing Scheme withdrawn from Scottish Parliament
Sharing Economy UK welcomes Scottish Government’s announcement today (18 February 2021) that legislation for a short-term lets licensing scheme has been withdrawn from Scottish Parliament.
This follows our consultation response on a licensing scheme and planning control areas in Scotland for short-term lets. The legislation threatened damage to home sharing at a crucial time, with vast numbers of ordinary people and businesses potentially impacted.
The withdrawal will allow for draft guidance to be developed. Subject to the outcome of May’s Holyrood election, the Scottish Government intends to re-lay the legislation before Parliament in June. We remain committed to working with the Scottish Government.
