Sharing Economy Council responds to the Autumn Statement 2022
In response to the HMT’s Autumn Statement, Juliet Eccleston, CBI Sharing Economy Council Chair and Founder of AnyGood? says:
“ It is a shame the Chancellor did not use his Autumn Statement to help grow the sharing economy, which is proving a lifeline for so many people in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis. However, it is positive that innovation was positioned as one of the pillars of growth, with previous announcements kept on the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, Enterprise Investment Scheme and Venture Capital Trusts. This should support many sharing economy companies in accessing the finance they need to grow and scale, however we still argue that their eligibility criteria should be reviewed to include ‘asset leasing’ companies. Also, the reforms to R&D tax relief for SMEs will affect many innovative companies, deterring investment and curtailing growth.”
